Please, just leave......NOW.....

I am tired, oh so very tired, of all the guys in my backyard.  Especially the one that just walks around, talking on his phone.  I can't get up and wander to the kitchen in my jammies because one of them will be there peering in the window-  "Oh, hello, do you like my bed head?"

The Walkie Talkie phones me when he sees me inside.  Then he wants me to come outside and see his remarkable progress, which isn't all that much.  Poor Gus, he is confined to the house and is very disturbed by the intruders.  When they all leave (which didn't happen until 7:30 PM last night!!!!) he runs around the yard with his ears up, legs stiff and growling in case he catches one.

W/T assures me it will be the end of next week, but if he tells me how wonderful Hoof Grid is one more time, I'll Grid him with it.  For sure.

Spent the weekend in San Fran with Cricket and Badger.  It was so nice!!  Okay, not so much Saturday, but the first day winding up to Mt. Tam and hanging at Fish having mulled wine.  We had a fab dinner at the Sushi-Place-With-Beehive-Hairdo-Woman.

On Saturday, we did a little drive by and saw some very interesting sights.  We hiked at Golden Gate Park and visited with the horses.

We had Mexican at Joe's where I had a REAL margarita-  fresh lime juice, mmmmm.

A nap and shower later, we went to The Slanted Door, a Vietnamese restaurant.  Another awesome meal which I didn't photograph and I had a Lime Vodka/Ginger/Lime drink.  Badger had Not Toad and Cricket had an Austrian something wine.  It was a bit drizzly that day, but just fine.

Sunday, we walked to Chinatown and it was so sunny and warm.  We cut through parks, saw dogs and kids and cool houses.  I stuffed myself and was glad to have the walk back, 'cuz I needed it.

A gastric delight with two great gals.  Even if one is a little weird.

Immortalized in Oil

Here's the deal.  We bought an original oil painting that the artist will create from a photo of Gus.  He's really good, he's done movie stars and presidents.

Gus had his photo shot last week and which one do we choose?

Doesn't he look stately?  Not at all the Dorkus Doggus he usually is.

His birthday is November 3.

Batting Practice

I was in Winthrop a couple of weeks ago and while I swept chipmunk turds off the front porch, this bird flew out from behind a light.  It kept flying around my head and I screamed wildly and ran into the house; swinging the broom at it.

It would land and fly away, come back circle and land.  When I realized it was a bat, I thought I'd get some pictures of it.  You don't often see a bat during the day, flying in circles, attacking humans.  Come to think of it, I've been feeling like attacking humans lately and that weird puncture wound won't heal......

I thought I wouldn't like it, but I was wrong.  Yup, my one wrong for the year, you heard it here.

It was the annual Regatta, the historical parade of gondolas and thank god, they shut down the main canal so the tourists from World-o-Ships can't get in.   So it is very few tourists and all locals.

We found a spot near the canal and watched the parade.  It was about 15 minutes, but worth it.

Freakin' Florence

  • Oct 10, 2008

Freakin' hot Florence.  Okay, I've resumed my travel tales.  I hope I can remember.

John decided he knew where the hotel was from the train station.  I had the directions, so I'm not sure how he knew.  An hour and a half later, I asked a policeman, a very nice policeman (but not the mounted policeman I really liked).  Mr. Nice Policeman walked us to the doorstep of the hotel.

I was so pissed.  John is not in charge of directions for evermore.

We had a great dinner at the local joint around the corner from the hotel and I had limoncello, big yum.  We stayed at the Hotel Columbo, which was a block from the main square and very clean with a great breakfast.  The shower stalls were ship-like, but what the heck.

Some pics, including the Italian Stallion:

What did you expect, David?  We saw him, but unlike the Great Unwashed, actually didn't take photos because we were told not to.  I did, however, touch "The Prisoners", the series of statues he was creating before he died.  I know, I touched history.

Went to another gallery that was overwhelming.  We saw some original Rubens, Carravagio and others, but I can't remember now, which is why we bought the books to look at later.

BTW, before we boarded the train in Naples to travel to Florence, we had hands-down, the best pizza I've ever eaten at a little cafe packed with Mafia types.  It was unreal, both the lunch and the Sopranos.

My friend died yesterday

She was doing her job and was shot.  Her canine partner, Radar, was still in the car, so she didn't see it coming.

She and Annie had a trial in Tacoma and they were going to stay at our house.  She has a husband, Brian,  and a fifteen year old daughter, Whitney.

Brian asked to have a copies of the CD I made of all of us in Acalpulco.  I can't beleive we were all there, enjoying margaritas, screaming at the tarantulas and swimming in the pool.  Whitney was so cool and so fun.  She is the most amazing teen girl I've ever met.

I'm going to Sequim tomorrow to be with Annie and help out in any way.  I'm not looking forward to it.  I think I can take Whitney shopping for something to wear to the service or help Brian with the dogs.  I know Annie and I will lean on each other to be strong.

It's just all so fucking senseless.
